Now. . . let’s talk about being a veteran son. Sick right here next to your daddy. Your old man is the real veteran of the console wars. I’ve been caught in the crossfire since the very beginning. That’s right. I’ve seen console wars you’ve never even heard of. I watched the godfather’s of video game duke it out in the retail battlefield.
I was around to see the great Atari 2600 vs. Colecovision/Intellivision war of the ’70s and ’80s. I suffered through the battle of NES vs. Sega. Are 16 bits really better than 8? How could we know for sure? Times were rough back then. No. SNES vs. Sega Genesis? Get them both? They were tumultuous times. Then came 32 bit and 64 bit console wars. The consoles were flying to market fast and furious. PS1 vs. Sega Saturn? Dreamcast? PS2 vs. Xbox? I’d seen all those battles before your silly little console conflict. You should be happy your only real choice was PS3 vs. Xbox 360 and now the battle of the next-gen boxes. I’ve seen all of these and then some. I’ve seen some stuff, man. Things. I’ve been around since the ORIGINAL console wars and I don’t like to talk about it. These console wars, they’re the reason I get that distant stare and that vacate stare in my eyes.
