Any Minecraft fan will instantly recognize the inspiration for this gift. The dreaded Creeper face invokes fear and dread in many players. A virtual buzz-kill, these self destructing bad guys live to sneak up on you when you least expect it and destroy all of your hard work. Creepers are a pain in the rear, but most Minecraft players love to hate them. The hissing exploding bad guys have also inspired some pretty sweet etched beer glasses.
This etched Creeper beer glass has a subtle tapered/fluted shape. I’m not a brew-master or beer guru and trying to decide what category of glass this fits into resulted in arguments among friends, family,and co-workers. The most common opinion is this should be referred to as a Pilsner style glass. Still some insist a TRUE pilsner glass has to have straight edges. Another small group insisted this is a Pub style glass. Still others say this a Weizen glass (but I’m don’t think it is tall enough or has a large enough capacity.) In the end I decided to take the easy way out and go with “Minecraft Pilsner Pub Weizen Glass.” =)
One thing I am sure of ; the shape reminds me of a Creeper. They are wide at the top like the Creeper’s head, tapering down to a narrow body before widening again slightly around the base where a creeper’s feet or legs would be. It really does look like similar to a Creeper, if a Creeper was reincarnated as drinkware!
